Week 4
2/12/2023
37 miles total, 10 mile long run, hill work for speed 4-5 times long hill repeats, plus running 6 days per week rather than 5.
My 12 year old is training for a 5k and also has a goal of being the fastest at the one mile in gym class. She has been running ½ mile 3 times per week to get into a routine and started doing strength one day per week with me. Today she joined me outside for our first run together of the season.
This week my niece will be dancing at the Minnesota State High School Jazz and High Kick Dance Competition. We are planning to make it a minivacation, which means switching runs around to make it work with the busy schedule. I’m front loading the week with 6 miles runs, so I can have shorter runs and days off when we are gone for the weekend.
The other day my sister asked what my backup plan for qualifying for Boston was? I told her I didn’t have a back up plan. I said this, yet I had not registered. So, as everyone is watching the Super Bowl I’m registering for a tune up half marathon in April and FINALLY registering for the Fargo Marathon! I have a plan, I will put in the work and trust the process. Here. I. Go.

State Dance weekend was a blur. I was able to do a treadmill run with one of my nieces at the hotel and watch my niece's team earned first place for the second year in Jazz and High Kick. I love seeing the excitement in the dancers, their hard work paying off. They have passion for their sport and it bubbles over at the state tournament. It reminds me of the excitement of a big race, so much preparation for one big day.
