Everything You Do, Do It for God’s Glory
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.—1 Corinthians 10:31
Yes, God includes FUN in the "whatever we do"—so let's have some fun and give Him glory! State Dance has become a tradition in our family—at least for the girls. Each year, my 8-year-old, 14-year-old, and I pack up the car and head to the Target Center, where we’ve been fortunate enough to cheer on my niece as she takes the stage. She dances beautifully, and her love for dance shines through her face. All eyes are drawn to her—or maybe that’s just me. Watching her perform is a highlight of our winter.

But while dance weekend is fun, it’s also a lot of work! Planning begins long before we leave—figuring out how to manage missed school, unfinished chores, and my daughter’s absence from pep band. Then comes the packing: regular clothes, themed outfits, swimsuits, snacks, and all the essentials for three nights away. Packing for one? No problem. Packing for three? That’s a whole different challenge!
My husband reminds me that we are going to have fun—yes, fun! And fun can still be a lot of work. Even in the middle of preparation, I am convicted to do it for the glory of God. That means checking my grumpiness at the door when packing, being an encouragement to those around me, and choosing calm in the middle of stress.
As I stuff yet another bag into the trunk, I think of one of my favorite verses:
Proverbs 16:3:
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.
It’s easy to get caught up in the stress of preparation, but this verse reminds me that when I surrender my plans to God, He helps me figure out the details. Whether it’s dance weekend, a busy work schedule, or a new challenge, He establishes our steps when we trust in Him.

This Week’s Challenge:
Think of something you’ve been stressing about and take a moment to pray over it. Ask God to guide your plans and give you peace in the process. No matter how chaotic the preparation may be, remember that God is in control—even when our suitcases (and our schedules) feel overloaded!
