During my college journey, I decided to transfer to the University of Minnesota as a sophomore. Coincidentally, two girls from my hometown were also attending, and we ended up sharing an apartment with another girl. Little did I realize that this chance arrangement would grow into the U of M Girls, a lifelong friendship, a testament to God going before me.
Over two decades, the bond created among us has only deepened. Although in-person gatherings are infrequent, our communication through texts has been ceaseless. Through these messages, we've not only shared the ups and downs of life but also lifted each other up in prayer, witnessing God's responses to our requests.
The remarkable ways in which God goes before us in answering prayers are numerous. From significant concerns for our children to lighthearted answers to seemingly trivial requests, His presence is undeniable. Just last year, as one of the U of M Girls sent her daughter on a solo flight, she was amazed at God's meticulous planning when her uncle unexpectedly happened to be on the same plane. It was confirmation that God had already paved the way for her daughter even before the journey began.
I've been digging into the Old Testament and have come across several instances where God went before His people. A standout example is when Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. God provided guidance with a "pillar of cloud" during the day and a "pillar of fire" at night (Exodus 13:21). In the face of adversity, as Pharaoh pursued them and the Red Sea loomed ahead, God intervened. Caught between the Egyptians and the sea, Moses reassured the people in Exodus 14:13-14, saying, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm, and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." To read the full account, refer to Exodus 13:17-14:31.
Today, whatever challenges you may be facing, find comfort in knowing that God is going before you. He will fight on your behalf, and all you need to do is be still. Watch for the ways He is preparing the path for you and trust in His guidance.
